Seen this topic covered and vague solutions provided and some apparently resolved, but am still having this problem.

I don’t have jetpack, plugins up to date, wordpress up to date. I uploaded some photos on the weekend for a new post and only half of them uploaded, the others gave me the HTTP Error message, I tried on another machine, tried making photos smaller. Still doesn’t like those particular photos.

Does anyone have any tips?

This is such a petty annoying error and from the amount of the same errors I’ve seen this is not looking good for wordpress.

When I try to upload mp3 files (which I’ve done successfully every week for a few years) I am now getting an “HTTP error.” This doesn’t happen with pics however. I’ve tried deactivating certain plugins – doesn’t change anything.

Any help would be appreciated! I can’t seem to find anything online that’s worked.

I am having a problem to that I see others listing here. I can confirm that in my case, it is a brand new install on WP 4.6.1, and full permissions are set for the uploads/buddydrive directory. I am able to load .pdf files and .jpg files, but not Word Docs.

I kept getting an HTTP error when I was trying to upload some images. But not for all images. Some images were successfully uploaded. I think it has nothing to do with the image size since the size of the images is small (less than 100 KB). Also, I have no problem in uploading a few MB audio file. But I still failed to upload some of my image files. Does anyone have an idea about how to solve this?

My Dashboard showing the following error message in WordPress News Block. Don’t know what to do, please Help Me.

“RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: User has blocked requests through HTTP.”

And also installing any tools show the following error message.

“Installation failed: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”

Second site in the last two weeks is getting an HTTP Error when trying to upload simple jpg and png images.

I know there’s plenty of threads on the subject but they appears to give conflicting answers so I was wondering if there’s an updated fix on this with v.4.7

It all started a little before the 4.7 update. I started getting the HTTP error when uploading images once in a while but after re-submitting the image in the wordpress loader everything worked fine.

But yesterday, every images I try to upload gets the same HTTP error. I wanted to add 16 pictures to a post and when I tried to upload them, only 3 got uploader, the rest getting the HTTP error. After multiple tries, switching .png to .jpg and trying different sizes, it appears to work randomly, 1 or 2 pictures being added each try. After maybe an hour of trying, I managed to upload 13 of the 16 I wanted.

I didn’t add plugin or modify anything in between. Made my update to 4.7, hoping it work fix it. It didn’t.

Is this related to wordpress or to my host?

Why does it work sometimes but not always? Same picture, different time, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Does somebody know what’s this about?

The title pretty much says it all. My wordpress website worked fine until this morning. I didn’t change any settings, add any new plugins, or do anything of the sort, but it started saying “Missing Temporary Folder” as I was uploading media. Then it switched to “HTTP Error” instead! How do I fix this and go back to it working again since this is a recent development.

I’m using 000webhost to host if that matters.

PNG uploads fail and show an “http error” message. The file DOES turn up in Uploads, but no thumbnails or other sizes are created. You can view it in Media, but it has no thumbnail. It’s just a URL.

Only PNGs do this. JPGs? Fine.

I have:
Turned off all plugins.
Switched Theme to 2016.
Verified that the image is less that 1MB and only 400px x 600px.
Verified that php memory limit is 128mb.
Opened the image in Photoshop, verified it’s RBG, saved it as a new file, tried uploading the new one.
Resaved the file as a JPG. That uploaded fine.
Offered Rumplestiltskin my first-born child. He said no.

I’m seen this in the forums before, with no answer. I’m stumped. Just changing everything to JPG is not an option in this case, I NEED to be able to upload PNGs.

I’m still trying to resolve the error we’re getting when trying to upload media files over about 12MB in our WordPress installations. So far I’ve tried:

Switching to the default WP theme
Upgrading us to WP 4.7.1
De-activating all our plugins
Turning on WP Debugging
Deleting unused plugins including Jetpack
Installing the Disable Real MIME Check plugin to handle 4.7.1’s aversion to non-image types
Making sure there’s enough memory allocated to PHP (32MB of 128MB total)
Increasing the limits in our global .user.ini file to ridiculously large amounts:

post_max_size=10000M;
upload_max_filesize=10000M;
max-request-length = 10485760000;
request-timeout = 3000000;
max_upload_limit=10000M;

But looking at the error log, I can see:

The majority of the photos that I upload to WordPress come up with “HTTP error”. I asked my host to increase the PHP memory limit which was done but did not help. Any other ideas ?

I have increased the limit to 250 mb.
The images are uploading properly but while uploading videos it is saying HTTP Error
Any help would be appreciated

Hi, In my FW policies I leave “disallow uploads” as it is selected by default. In the user whitelist, I chose “Add all logged in users to the whitelist”. Yet still – and very often – users contact me telling me that they get an http-error when uploading files (jpgs and pngs). This happens *very* often.

How can I find out, why these uploads receive a http error? (Turning off the firewall or the option to disallow uploads immediately results in uploads working again.)

Sometimes Im getting http error while trying to upload an image. Do you know what could I do to fix that? Maybe increase the runtime limit on my server? Or is it another reason? Thank you!

just a heads-up, this plugin has caused HTTP errors when uploading files in the WP Media manager, making it impossible to upload anything.

The error via debug mode is:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function iconv() in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wr-contactform/libraries/init/plugin.php on line 80

Disabling the plugin fixes the upload issues.

Hi, I recently migrated my site to a new host and since then I’ve found that for new posts and new pages I’m now directed to the page where all posts/pages are edited, rather than what I chose, which was to create either a new post or page.

Second issue : I get an http error when trying to load any media. The image attempts to load and then I get an http error.

My site is balletnews.co.uk if that helps diagnose the problems. It’s in maintenance mode right now so you won’t see anything.

I had hoped to spend the weekend installing and customising a new theme but these issues have cropped up since the move and my host company are brilliant but baffled so I thought I’d reach out to the WordPress community and seek help so I can move on!

Hi i am running WordPress 4.7.2 on my online store and after the upgrade to the current version of WordPress transactions wouldn’t complete a transaction and then ends at pending. Below is the error that is generated when the payment gateway sends an ITN message. Does anyone know how to fix this?
