this just started happening with a particular image, others are uploading just fine. The image loads but doesn't crunch, then gives error code 'HTTP error'

I am using a local installation on a ISP Config server.
I had http error uploading images and this is what I did:

1. Edit file fcgid.conf

nano /etc/httpd/conf.d/fcgid.conf

2. Add line MaxRequestLen 15728640 (value is in bytes so it equals to roughly 15MB) the file then looks like this:

MaxRequestLen 15728640

3. Restart apache webserver

apachectl restart

May be usefull for someone :-)

I'm getting an http error when trying to upload a featured image.

When I upload an image either from the media library or by clicking on add media within a post, it uploads without a problem, and if I select an image already in the gallery as a featured image, that is ok, but I can't seem to upload when selecting to do so from the add featured image link.

Hello

I know that there have been a number of threads about this so am sorry to bother everyone again but I am unable to follow the advice due to my lack of experience in coding.

Can anyone please suggest a solution or give me step by step instructions on how to insert code? I have seen solutions that require you to insert a code phrase but don't understand where I should do this!

I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me!

When I try and upload photos to the media library I get an HTTP error.
Once in a while it will upload a picture.
I started having this problem after the previous update I was hoping this new update would resolve the issue.
At first I only get the HTTP error on the library page but if I close the browser and reopen I get the picture names but no thumbnails just grey icon where picture should be.
If I click on it the Attachment details page comes up with no picture again ...just grey icon in the corner where picture should be.
If I click on view attachment page my website template comes up with the following text:
20160515_095812

June 22, 2016 
Warning: Illegal string offset 'width' in /home/ladygreymyst/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyfourteen/image.php on line 31

20160515_095812 Edit

If I click on edit the picture comes up in an edit media page.
But I can not add it into a post.

I tried updating all plug ins with no change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm at a standstill.

Thanks, Tracey

I'm trying to upload a pdf of 1.10mb via Media Library, Add New. Just uploaded two others - one 4.61mb and the other 835kb with absolutely no problems. With the third one I keep getting an error message which simply says 'http error', no other information. Can't find the solution in the forums.
No point in linking to site as wouldn't be apparent.

Hi all,

First up, I'm a WordPress.org newby and to be honest I'm terrible with the tech talk, so feel free to treat me like a baby. Also, apologies if my question is silly, or if it's already been posted. I've searched around a lot but found no solutions.

I've been having issues uploading images -- getting the infuriating 'HTTP error' for most images (not sure why not all). In the process of trying to fix this, I followed some advice to try installing the WordPress Flash Uploader, which I did, but it didn't seem to work, so I then uninstalled it. I also updated my theme at this point.

After doing these two things, almost all of the images on my website seem to be broken. I don't know what caused it, and I've no idea how to fix it. In my media library, only placeholder images are visible, but when I try to edit an image, the original image is visible.

If anyone has any ideas that might help, I'm all ears. My website is at www.marleenaforward.com

Thanks all!

I have this horrible error when importing a backup file to from my localhost to my live site. I also tried to use FTP but there’s an error saying Incorrect Password. I’m not sure why I cant upload the backup file to my FTP. I have provided the correct password but it looks like there’s an error on the aiwm-backups folder. Below is the error code in the console when I’m importing files.

Can’t restore uploads file

When I’m trying to restore my uploads file, it starts uploading, and then I get this error message:

Upload error (code -200) : HTTP Error. (make sure that you were trying to upload a zip file previously created by UpdraftPlus)

It doesn’t give me any help other than that message. I haven’t modified the file in any way. I also tried uploading the .zip file via FTP, but I get the same error message. Any ideas here?

Hello

I am getting HTTP error when uploading images to WP.

This does not happen to all uploads. It is rather random.

Just by chance I disabled Wordfence and tried to upload the same images and it worked.

So, it seems that Wordfence is, selectively, somehow generating the error and keeping the image from being uploaded.

pls. advise.

Thanks

Bernard

HTTP Error

I’m trying to upload images into the Media Library and I continually get the HTTP error. Sometimes, if I refresh, the image will actually be there, but if I attempt to use it, I eventually get an Internal Server Error until I delete the image. I’ve tried with two different themes.

When looking at my error log, I see this:

Perennial proble with uploading photos

Judging from my attempts to find a solution to the problem of “HTTP error” while trying to upload photos to my Media Library there is no clear solution to this.
Some photos upload OK while others don’t and there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for this. They are all JPEG’s, all below the file size limit and as far as I can tell from looking at the details of the images in Photoshop, none are technically peculiar in any way.
I am therefore wondering of there is another way of doing this. Is it possible of simply loading the files across to WordPress using FTP to whatever folder they are stored on in the WordPress site? I somehow doubt this as I haven’t been able to find the folder.
But I live in hope!

HTTP Error uploading images

I’ve had problems uploading images. .jpg, .png, anything. We’re talking 200kb size images. I get a constant “HTTP ERROR”.

I host with Hostgator, and they can’t figure it out. I have 4 sites on one cloud hosting plan. This site www.retirewire.com is the problem, though I’ve not tried to upload images on the other sites recently

I’ve already deactivated all plugins, still the problem occurs. I do NOT have jetpack plugin either.

I’m not sure what to do or how to fix it, can you please advise?

I do not know how to code or anything, that’s out of my league (which is why I use this theme and WP in the first place).

Also, are there other ways to upload images than through WP? I’ve tried putting them on the host through Filezilla, but they don’t show up in Media when I want to add them to a post. I tried the plugin “add the file” (can’t remember exactly what it’s called) and it won’t work either – it says the file is already there.

Thanks in advance for your help.

http error on image upload

$

When trying to upload images to the media library an unspecified ‘http error’ appears, and an empty image thumbnail shows up. The image can be edited and opening the image path, shows the fully uploaded image.

PHP Version 5.5
max_execution_time 30
memory_limit 256M

To correct this ‘http error’ I’ve added the following line to the top of my .htaccess file:

SetEnv MAGICK_THREAD_LIMIT 1

This fixes the problem in my case.

Media Library HTTP Error

One of the sites I work with, http://nativeamericanmueum.org has been having some issues with the media library.

It used to be that it had an issue uploading an image within a post, and we got that fixed the the htaccess file. But now, I cannot upload any media image to my media library because it gives me an HTTP error.

I contacted my hosting several times and worked with some suggestions in other posts, but we found recently that it is ONLY with the Customizr theme on. Going to a WP core theme doesn’t present the problem at all.

Hosting was able to fix the same problem in another site, but this one remains problematic. Suggestions?

Can’t Upload Photos HTTP error

I have been unable to upload photos for quite a while now.
I have tried deleting old photos that I do not need anymore, clearing my cache, and a bunch of confusing stuff go daddy suggested.
After I deleted photos, I still could not upload new ones, so I do not think it is a space issue of some kind.
I have a photography business, so being able to upload my photos on my photo blog are kind of important.
I also am not familiar with writing a bunch of code or anything of the sort.
So please use layman’s terms.
Please help!
Thank you!

I’ve been trying to write a couple blog posts, but have not been able to do so as I can’t get any of my pictures to upload. I keep getting HTTP Error. Since I’m very new to this, I’ve tried searching on this topic but the suggestions are not understood. If in layman’s terms someone could help me, that’d be much appreciated.
