elix1289 on "Media apparently "broken"; "http error" when uploading"

Hi everyone,

I am working on a customer's wordpress site on which I would like to upload media.
So far, the site has been fed with smaller images (<300kb, <700px size).

Now, the page is supposed to be fed with larger images (up to 3mb, up to 3000px in width).

Unfortunately, when I upload the images Wordpress returns "http error" and the pictures displayed as usual in the media library. Rather than a thumbnail, I get to see the grey file symbol.

The files are not entirely "broken", I can open the images with the usual link to the upload folder. I can embed in posts but when I try to use them in a plugin called "master slider", they are not recognized.

The file permissions of these images is 644. The maximum file size allowed is 64mb.

Is there a possible solution for my problem?

Kind regards,
Felix

Current config:
- WP Version : 4.5.2 :
- PHP 5.5/MySQL ? :
- Plugins : iTheme Security, Akismet, Contact Form 7, Instagram Slider Widget, iThemes Security, Jetpack by WordPress.com, LayerSlider WP, Master Slider Pro, Visual Composer Pricing Boxes, WPBakery Visual Composer :
- Theme: The Moon :
- Host : eHost.com :
- Problem description :

Image upload in my media doesn't work correctly. When I try to add JPG image, I get the error "HTTP error". On the other hand, it is working really well with PNG image. There is something else strange : If I try to add test.jpg, I got an error but when I browse to wp-content/uploads with cPanel, I can see various test.jpg files (but not the one with the original size), but I can't see test.jpg in my media files.

I strongly suspect the problem is coming from one of the plug-in coming with The Moon. Indeed, when I switch The Moon with a default theme, I then can add jpg without problem.

Any idea how to resolve this problem?

Thank you!

Okay, I'm no stranger to http and 500 errors, however in the past I have always used a combination of fixes to right them, most of which have worked.

This, however, I feel is a bug in wordpress, as I cannot for the life of me figure it out.

when I try to upload naything now with the new version, I immediately get a http error. I hve never had this problem before. Uploading to nextgen etc is all fine, but uploading natively it just hangs on upload.

If I cancel, it just hangs as well. You cant cancel out of the upload - usually, sometimes you can get back tot he post. When you then try to go to media library and find the image, it doesnt appear as if the entire upload failed.

However! When I save the draft, exit the post .. and then return, and opent he media library, suddenly the images are there. If I am doing bulk of several, sometimes they are all there, sometimes none are there - its totally arbitrary.

Yes, I have done this and tested this with disabling all plugins, and doing a whole lot of standard things, memory is fine etc etc. Nothing has fixed this and its only shown up since I upgraded

I heard in this release that there were some changes due to vulnerabilities to the Plupload component that is used to upload media files ... is it possible that there is some issue here with the changes that were made?

thanks for any help.

I keep getting the Error message HTTP Error come up when I try to upload a file. The problem started with a PDF file at 4.98MB. Not sure where to start with fixing the problem aside from browsing the support forums, which didn't help me.

I've tried disabling plugins, made a few changes to my wp-config.php file, etc.

I have begun getting an unspecified "HTTP Error" when I try to upload photos since I upgraded to WP 4.4.1

The images are small (under 200 KB)

When I de-activated Jetpack Version 3.8.2 the problem resolves.

I have since upgraded to Jetpack 3.9.0, but this hasn't fixed it.

PHP Version is 5.3.6
max_execution_time is 300
memory_limit is 128M

Any advice / fixes would be appreciated.

Weird situation: I cant upload 5 images... usual shots, I have 15 in a row, 10 uploaded ok, but these 5... WP shows "HTTP Error" on upload

Ok. What I tried:

1. flash uploader/browser upload
2. upload from new post and from medialibrary
3. switched off images plugins
4. compressed images, tried png instead of jpg, tried save without metadata, save in different software (Lightroom, PS, FastStone)
5. tried PC and MAC, FF, Chrome, IE, Safari
6. uploaded via VPN - still nothing
7. checked some other images, size double bigger - it's ok, uploaded fine
8. tried add some security lines into .htaccess (workaround from the internet) - didn't help
9. tired addfilter .. from another popular manual to functions.php - nothing
10. even checked these pics on virustotal - all clear

So.. I don't know what is the problem. I've uploaded thousand images, from the same camera, same size, same Lightroom software, same connection and PC, same host and everything was perfect for about a year, never had such an issue. Didn't update, didn't change any config, did nothing for a long time.

Any ideas?

Hi,
Just downloaded your plugin, trying the free version and planing to get the premium, but I have a problem when I try to import a csv.
The importing process goes to 100%, but after a few minutes, it gives me an "http error", in the top left side of the window (under "Wp All Import - import xml/csv).
I tried on your testing plateform with the same file, aand erything goes well.
"Http error" is way too generic for me to interpret the error and correct it, any ideas ?

Thx in advance

Please can you help me. I have just had a brand new web site created (http://strategicplanningforgrowth.co.uk/) and the web company managed to upload the photos with no problem.

Yet when I try to upload large photos (anything above 1000 x, which I'm buying from istock) they seem to load fine but every single time, at the very end, I receive a message stating "URL error" or "HTTP error.

I am uploading them directly from my pc (Windows 10). I have also tried from my Mac but get the same problem. I also asked my assistant who also used a MAC - same problem.

I hope you can help. Many thanks. Jane

What causes this to happen? I have a number of sites all on Wordpress and all show this error when trying to upload images. I have a real headache when trying to get images on any of the sites, I have tried resizing the images, changing the dpi of the images, increasing the memory size in wp_config, changing the file type, even searching the web for other fixes and still I cannot get rid of this problem , it sometimes takes days to upload images after retrying again and again, looking through this there seems to be loads of people with the same problems since the early days of Wordpress, is there a third party way to upload images within Wordpress such as a plugin, etc...

All my plug-ins are updated.

My theme does not need an update.

I tried logging in on different browsers and that did not make a difference.

Yesterday evening wordpress was working perfectly fine. Today all of a sudden I can't upload an image. I even used an image compressor to see if the image could be made smaller and be able to upload to my wordpress and that did not work.

I attempted at altering the function.php and that did not work.

What can I do? Please help me!

Hello, I am getting a http error on image uploads. I have tried re-sizing the images, cropping them, changing from png to jpeg, de-activating plugins, changing upload size settings, and changing themes but nothing seems to work. I believe the client is using a 1-click install script and did not provide me with and ftp or hosting information. I am at my wits end, what should I do?

I'm getting the HTTP error on image uploads on two different machines and different websites. The errors started around the same day. I've tried turning off all plugins, updating wordpress, updating flash, decreasing the size of the photos, turning off my Norton firewall and clearing cache, nothing is working. My photography website needs images. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. http://www.stuartmeade.com

Something that I have noticed with one of my WordPress websites is an error when I try to upload a file to the media library. Thankfully it's not a continuous reoccurring issue and only pops up once in a great while. Though it simply drives me CRAZY and wonder if there is a way to get around so I can hopefully avoid it in the future or override the error.

In this instance I recently uploaded a music album that I finished editing earlier today. All the tracks were edited in the same software and have the same tags (minus track number and the name) and file extension (.mp3). Seven of the eight files uploaded to the library with no problem while the last received an HTTP error (no reference code either).

My first assumption would be that maybe the file is corrupt, but I am able to play it just fine on my desktop. My second assumption would be the file size, but I changed it the maximum upload to 250MB. The audio file is about 14MB and there are achieves on the website that far exceed 14MB and work file.

Any suggestions!?

I keep getting an HTTP error (that's literally all it says) when trying to upload media. Could this be due to some security setting in the Wordfence plugin or related .htaccess markup?

Hi All,

Frustrated new user here. I just installed WP via Godaddy yesterday and everything was working fine. I went to upload a file and kept getting "HTTP Error" when I try to upload anything via the browser. I've tried an FTP upload with Filezilla and I'm getting a "Network error: Software caused connection abort" error. File makes it but the file size is 0.

Like I said, I installed WP via Godaddy, edited some of the text on the default blog that's included (Hello world!), uploaded a couple pics and went to bed. I didn't touch WP until 5hrs ago. I go to upload more pics and I get hit with these errors. I don't know what happened in the span of me going to bed and trying to upload a new photo.

I've turned off all the plug ins that were installed with the installation. I have cleared the cache on the servers and cleared my cache on my PC.
I've tried Chrome, Firefox and MS Edge browsers.
I've changed the permissions via Filezilla to 755.
I have tried all the included templates.

I find it strange that I have to edit any of the .php files since I essentially didn't do much besides choose a template, edit some text and upload some photos.

Any help would be appreciated.

We started a blog about 1yr ago documenting our travels. After the initial learning curve all went smooth until about mid April this year. Since then our problems are getting progressively worse.

I tried looking through the forum but didn't quite find my problem(probably just missed it). Sorry if this is a duplicate.

The first problem was uploading pictures. Takes forever then comes back with http error. We also can no longer add captions to the photos in the library and save them. Ditto for editing(rotating).

As we're writing the post it's almost impossible to save a draft.

Once we get a post published(6+ hours where it used to take 1-2) we've found that the pictures no longer enlarge when clicked on.

It is also very difficult to save replies to comments on our posts.

All these didn't start at the same time but that's where we are now.

I've disabled all plugins with no help.
I've tried adding "Responsive Lightbox" plugin but it doesn't really do what we want(doesn't enlarge)

Do we need to uninstall WordPress and start over?? If so, will we lose all our posts and library??

Our site is: jacknpegsjourney.com

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Hello,

I'm getting an http error when I upload media to my site. This is the first day it has happened... I checked my AWS and S3 lite settings... Is this happening with anyone else? Is there a fix? If I keep trying, the media will eventually upload properly to my WP site and AWS bucket... But I have to keep trying multiple times and delete the bogus files it creates with the http error...

Every time I attempt to upload a picture to the Media Library the screen displays 'HTTP error'. A friend, also with admin access, reports:-

"So if I try Media Tab on side menu, then Add New Item/Choose File/Upload after a while of waiting I get:
Sorry 84.92.55.109, your request cannot be proceeded. For security reason, it was blocked and logged.
If you think that was a mistake, please contact the webmaster and enclose the following incident ID:
[ #3287695 ]
Whereas if I use Library (i.e. Media Library) menu tab then I choose a file and it auto uploads but almost instantly it says:
IMG_0313.jpg
HTTP error.
IMG_01313.jpg being the file in the case but any file gives the error.
This also happens when creating a blog if I use the Insert Media option and then use the presented tab options: Upload Files"

I should add that the 'webmaster' must be a reference to myself.
