christine36 on "Media upload issues with new Wordpress version"

Since the upgrade to the new version, the Media upload DOES NOT WORK any more, either tring to 'add new' in the library with drag and drop or with the browser's built-in file uploader option. It was working perfectly before the upgrade.
Now the upload reaches 100%, then shows 'HTTP error', and the image looks as broken in the media library.
I learnt from the support forum that this is a very common issue among users since the last update, so I would kindly ask you to look into this as fix it as soon as possible.
I would rather not start using external FTPs to upload images...
Many Thanks!

I am new to Wordpress and have not been able to upload any pictures.
It takes a while to load and then it gives me a HTTP error.
The error log has the following :
[18-Apr-2016 10:59:55 Africa/Johannesburg] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20100525/imagick.so' - libMagickWand.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

I have tried various sizes, some as small as 26 Kb. Various file types. jpeg, png etc. I have uninstalled WordPress and re-installed several times.
I have contacted my hosting company - According to them it must be a Wordpress setting.

I have tried in Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox. I have tried it on a pc with Win 7 and one with Win 10.

Please help.

Hi,

When writing a post and trying to upload photos via 'Add Media' I get a HTTP Error.

The file itself uploads just fine, but there's no thumbnail, no other data, and I cannot view it from the add media screen.

I have tried:

- Adding the mod_security information to wp-admin/.htaccess
- Changing theme back to default
- Disabled all plugins

But still no luck.

The photo I'm trying to upload is just 1.82mb and 4000x3000.

Running Wordpress 4.2.7 on PHP 5.3.29.

Thank you

Hey I am having a horibble problem.

Whenever i try to upload images, no matter if i am using Multi File uploader or single file uploader i always get error messages. This didn't happen before. I used to previously have a WordPress installation on the same domain and same webserver which i deleted, then it was working fine and image upload was working fine too.

Now i simply reinstalled WordPress on same server/domain, but it gives me those image uploading errors. No matter which image i upload. JPG or PNG, no matter what resolution, name or colors. I just always get it.

Somewhere i read that some plugins may cause it, but i uninstalled few less common plugins, but the error was still there. I even upgraded to PHP 7.0. And the other plugins that i have enabled, i have used them all in this same combination on my other WordPress Installations/Sites and they have never caused any problems before.

What causes this anoyying error? Are the developers of their plugins/WordPress so incompetent that they cannot fix those simple errors?

Someone please give me a advice what to do.

I've started getting http error when uploading images to the media library. The thumbnail also doesnt display in the list of files in the library. When you insert the image it doesnt display, but when you look at the text the width="1" and height="1". The image then displays when you change the values.

Please can someone help me. I manage the website for a sports club and I have been using wordpress on my lenovo laptop on windows 10 on firefox for quite a while and it has worked fine. Today I can access the dashboard, stats, etc but when I try to post, update a post or upload media it hangs for ages and then I get the following:

if I am trying to post or update a post I get a new page with -
"The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

if I am trying to upload media I get a little white box with: "HTTP error."

It seems like it is a problem with the connection to the server - could it be timing out? I can deactivate one plug in, for example, but if I try to deactivate them all at once I get the 'connection reset' page as above.

I spoke to someone at godaddy who said it was something to do with my end. I have tried doing the above on another computer and it works so it is definietly something to do with this pc. The same thing happens on different browsers on this pc (including private browsers).

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be as I really need to work from this laptop as all the photos, etc are on it?

Oh, and since I started trying to sort this I have also lost the wording when I go to edit a post. Everything is still on the site, just not appearing when I click to edit it. I don't know whether this is connected or is from something I have done today.

I am a novice at this so please bear with me if this is a really simple problem but the chap at godaddy couldn't explain to me why it might work on one computer and not another.

Hey everyone!

First; I truly do appreciate any and all help.

I'm trying to upload images to a post on my site and it'll say it loaded 100% but it doesn't and it shows an 'HTTP Error' but nothing else about it. The file is in .jpg format and I believe is the right size file. What is the HTTP error and how do I fix this?

Thank you again for any and all help!

Heyme on "[Plugin: Really Simple SSL] HTTP error when loading images"

Hi Rogier,
Having a bit of a problem on lucietales.fr, when I load images they give an error at the end of the process 'HTTP Erreur'

What happens:
-You load the photo, and it gives the HTTP erreur at the end
-If you go to the library and choose afficher or Modify the photo will show.. but with __trashed/ in the URL. It seems like it is in the trash right away
-If you take the link next to the photo though it will display correct: https://lucietales.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/never-mind-the-dog-beware-of-the-bass-player.jpg
-If you make a new post and enter the photo in visual mode it will not show, but if you look in texte mode you will see the link, and in preview the photo will show.

When I turn off the SSL everything functions normally though, I can load and see the image.

As a workaround I can de-activate the plugin, load images, and re-activate, so that is ok for now.
Any idea what the problem may be?

Thanks already,
Heyme

I've been getting this error "wordpress is currently unable to handle this request HTTP ERROR 500" every time I try to activate a plugin. I began deactivating plugins one at a time and trying to activate the new plugins and still get the 500 error. Then before going further I tried reactivating the plugins I turned off and I get the 500 error.

Hi, I installed your plug in recently, it had worked fine in other sites for me, but this time it didn't work AND it seems to have caused an issue in the media library.
We now get http error message when trying to upload PDFs, and now jpgs, word files we uploading ok and I am trying get this fixed. I had already deactivated the plugin (assumed they didn't have imagemagick or whatever is needed on server (I generally haven't dealt with their hosting account just WP dashboard). As I hunted for solutions got the idea this might be related, so deleted the plugin but still getting errors. Now it won't always show the image in the editor view in one case.

Any help in debugging this for my client would be MUCH appreciated...as well as understanding what might be things to check before using since it seem to be sensitive to something on the server end beyond WP...
thanks!

I have been using WPSmush successfully for a while, but suddenly whenever I upload an image I get an HTTP error and the image fails to upload.

If I disable WP Smush the image uploads fine.

Currently I am keeping it disabled, which is a shame as it is great.
